The single most valuable advice here: log 10โ20 simulator hours before your first real flight. You'll crash dozens of times virtually and save thousands of dirhams. Simulators teach reaction under pressure โ exactly what separates a good pilot from a reckless one.

๐ 3 ยท Your First Four Flights
Pick a wide open area with no wind, and keep the drone's tail toward you โ then stick movements match aircraft movement exactly, with nothing reversed.
The Perfect Hover
Raise throttle smoothly to eye level (~1.5โ2 m). Focus entirely on holding one spot with tiny taps on the right stick. Don't move on until you can hold a steady hover for two full minutes.
The Square Pattern
Right stick only: forward, stop ยท roll right, stop ยท back, stop ยท roll left, stop. Nose stays pointed away from you throughout. The goal isn't speed โ it's a clean stop at every corner.
Yaw Rotation
While hovering, gently push the left stick sideways to rotate a full 360ยฐ and stop exactly where you started. This is your first taste of nose-in flying โ expect your brain to protest.
Controlled Landing
Hover a metre above your pad, lower throttle gradually, and on touchdown hold throttle fully down until the motors stop. Release early and the drone will bounce and tip.

After the square, the real challenge is nose-in flight. The figure 8 is the proven drill because it forces you to blend all three axes continuously:
About 9 metres (30 ft) apart on the ground.
Continuous loops with no pause between them.
The key: use Yaw to keep the nose pointed along the flight path, Pitch for momentum, Roll to bank the turn.
๐ฏ 5 ยท Acro Mode โ The Step to Mastery
Most camera drones fly stabilised (self-levelling when you release the sticks). In Acro / Manual the drone holds the last angle you commanded and never self-corrects โ far harder, but mandatory for FPV racing, acrobatics and dynamic cinematography. Learn it on a simulator only โ crashing in Acro is a matter of when, not if.

The first and longest step โ typically 3โ4 weeks. Start immediately; everything else depends on it.
Enrol at a GCAA-approved centre (plus DCAA if flying in Dubai). Courses cover theory and practical flight.
Medical fitness certificate plus a practical flight test with an approved examiner.
Every drone is individually registered with the GCAA โ including recreational ones.
Commercial work requires third-party liability cover of at least AED 1,000,000 per aircraft.
