What makes an FPV quad different?
You fly from the aircraft's perspective through goggles showing the live camera feed, not from your own viewpoint on the ground. Most are flown in Acro mode with no GPS hold, so every correction comes from your hand.
Why is it a poor first aircraft?
Because the crash rate in the first weeks is very high without automated assistance. The usual path is dozens of simulator hours, then a 2 to 3 inch quad, then moving up to 5 inch.
Why is 5 inch the standard size?
A 210 to 230mm diagonal frame balances low weight against the ability to carry a reasonable battery and camera — and it is the size with the widest and cheapest spare-part availability.
